Wiley at Wildside

Keith Wiley and his late wife Ros set up Wildside Nursery in 2003 when Keith retired as head gardener at The Garden House nearby. He had curated the innovative gardens there for over 25 years which culminated in The Garden House being described at one of the best examples of ‘leading-edge horticulture in the country’.

When the couple relocated to Wildside, they set about creating an ambitious garden where natural landscapes are still the inspiration for both planting and painting. Keith is a proponent of the ‘naturalism movement’ in gardening which seeks to work in harmony with nature allowing plants to thrive much as they would in the wild.

“Looking at the treasure trove of gardening ideas to be found in nature, from under our noses to far-flung corners of the globe. By allowing our observations of natural landscapes to inform our plantings, I believe that we can loosen the strait jacket that long-established horticultural practices impose allowing the enormous creative potential, latent within most of us, the freedom to express itself.” Keith Wiley.

Keith is a regular contributor to horticultural and lifestyle magazines, a lecturer and author with three books to his name.

The garden is only open to the public on certain days of the year and the extensive plant nursery is not accessible.
