Le Chateau du Champs de Bataille
Le Château du Champs de Bataille is a vast historic estate with stunning gardens and impressive architecture. Designed in the 17th century by the prominent landscape architect André Le Nôtre, the estate features an elaborate French formal garden with symmetrical layouts, manicured lawns, and intricate water features.
In recent years, the property garnered attention for its transformation under the guidance of the French interior designer Jacques Garcia. Garcia, known for his expertise in restoring and redesigning historic properties, purchased the castle to revitalise the gardens and interiors. His work harmoniously blends historical accuracy with contemporary elegance, enhancing the estate’s charm while respecting its rich heritage.
Garcia’s approach to the restoration of Le Château du Champs de Bataille carefully integrates period-specific elements with modern design sensibilities. His contributions include revitalising the estate’s grand salons and introducing subtle, luxurious details. The immense (and vastly expensive) garden restoration was inspired by sketches of the original garden, long vanished, which show the placement of the great terrace, broderies and bosques and the squares of Apollo and Diana.
