Our tour begins with a visit to the Royal Horticultural Society’s flagship garden at Wisley. We enjoy a guided tour so you’ll be sure to see the very best of these impressive and extensive gardens, which cover some 240 acres and inspire in any season. There is time for lunch (independent). In the afternoon we check into the 4-star Great Fosters Hotel. Dinner in the hotel (included).
Monday 23rd May
This morning we head to the Savill Garden, one of Britain’s finest ornamental gardens, located within Windsor Great Park. Commissioned by King George V, the garden was created in 1932 by Sir Eric Savill and it is as majestic today as it was then. We enjoy a guided tour of the gardens. We continue onto the Royal Borough of Windsor for lunch (included).
In the afternoon, you may choose to stay in town to visit Windsor Castle (entry not included), the home of Her Majesty The Queen, or return to the hotel to enjoy their own magnificent gardens. Your evening is at leisure.
Tuesday 24th May
This morning we check out of the hotel and make our way to the exclusive RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Today is members-only day so you can marvel at the magnificent floral displays proudly presented by the best nurseries and specialist growers in the main pavilion. See the extraordinary show gardens created by the leading lights in horticulture and enjoy the ‘Fresh Gardens’ designed by emerging talent. Later in the afternoon, we drive to the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Here we check into the 4-star Close Hotel in the heart of Tetbury, one of the prettiest towns in the area. We have dinner in the hotel (included).
Wednesday 25th May
After a leisurely start, we visit the attractive market town of Cirencester with its Roman heritage and beautiful, 11th century church. There is time for you to explore independently and have lunch. In the afternoon we visit Througham Court Garden. This extraordinary private garden, designed by its owner, is inspired by scientific facts and theories, and the numbers and patterns found in nature.
Afterwards, we continue on to Miserden Garden, a delightful Cotswolds garden that was designed, in part, by Edwin Lutyens. After strolling through the gardens and meeting the owner, we have a private dinner (included) in the garden restaurant.
Thursday 26th May
Today, we begin with a visit to Rodmarton Manor, one of the finest Arts & Crafts houses in Britain. It is still owned by the Biddulph family for whom it was built in 1909. We enjoy a private tour of the house followed by time to explore the gardens.
We then continue onto the Royal Gardens at Highgrove for lunch (included) and a tour. This is the private home of HRH the Price of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. It is widely regarded as one of the most innovative gardens in the UK and is managed on the strictest sustainable and organic principles. We return to the hotel where your evening is at leisure.
Please note: Visits to Highgrove are limited and dependent on the Prince’s diary. Dates are released in early spring each year, therefore it is not possible to guarantee a visit before this time. Our itinerary may be re-ordered to accommodate the visit, or an alternative garden will be included should a visit not be possible
Friday 27th May
We begin the day with a pre-opening visit to Iford Manor, a Grade I Italianate garden designed by the architect and landscape gardener, Harold Peto. The manor house is also famed for its tranquil beauty and romantic setting. We will have a tour of the gardens, including the private walled garden with the head gardener.
We then drive through the historic city of Bath to a privately owned house, with award-winning gardens which were designed and developed by Julian and Isabel Bannerman over twenty years. The gardens are truly romantic and a rare treat. We’ll enjoy a light lunch (included) then take a stroll through the gardens before departure. We return to Tetbury for our final night dinner (included).
