To see a World in a Grain of Sand,
And Heaven in a Wild Flower,

And Eternity in an Hour.

Pashley Manor Garden

Here is a relaxed and beautifully maintained private garden around a Grade 1 listed Tudor timber-framed ironmaster's house of 1550 with a wisteria-clad George I rear elevation dated 1720. The mixed formal and woodland gardens extend to some eleven acres, completely renovated with advice from Antony du Gard Pasley. The planting is subtle, with emphasis on colour and form, pale colours blending with the carefully chosen foliage. Large ponds and an island with classical temple, an old moat, breathtaking vistas across undulating Sussex countryside, verdant meadows and dense ancient woodland give great scope for exploration and photography.

This is an essentially English garden where views in almost any direction are as pretty as a picture. Enhancing this, an interesting collection of sculpture, much of which is for sale, is skilfully positioned around the garden by the artists themselves in conjunction with the family and gardeners.
