- Noord-Holland
- Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam - Founded in 1682 with medicinal plants, it was redesigned in the landscape style towards the end of the 19th century. There are now over 6,000 different plants in the garden from all over the temperate, tropical and sub-tropical world.
- Zuid-Holland
- Keukenhof Gardens - The world's largest flower garden of over 70 acres in which roughly 6 million bulbs burst into a riot of colour every spring (P)
- Botanic Garden of Leiden - Founded in 1587, the Hortus Academicus was amongst the earliest botanical gardens in Europe. Much of the planting is in very large containers and everything is well labelled.
- Arboretum Tropenburg - In the middle of Rotterdam outstanding trees from Europe, Africa, Asia and America, have been brought together. There are 2,500 varieties of trees and shrubs, all carefully labelled, among them 750 rhododendrons.
- Utrecht
- Walenburg - The garden of this moated 16th-century house with 13th-century tower is based on its original medieval garden. It is divided into small, hedged compartments with two marble statues and a Roman column.
- Overijssel
- Warmelo - Here are yew topiary, clipped thujas and box parterres in front of an 18th-century house with mulberry-clad walls. A geometrical French garden, has a view to the 19th-century landscape park. In another area scented roses grow with yews to frame a rococo pool. A garden room designed in 1920, has part of the great fuscia collection. Bridges and mossy paths lead to a theatrical pinetum.

- Het Loo Palace & Gardens - Splendidly restored symetrical 17th century gardens of William & Mary, reflecting belief that emphasis on order and harmony on earth mirrors peace and unity in Paradise. (Paleis Het Loo National Museum) (P)
