Runner Bean Wisley Magic

Runner Bean : Wisley Magic
Description: Highly commended in the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit trials, this prestigious variety gives the heaviest yields of any garden variety. Long, smooth, straight quality pods 37cm (15 inches) with a delicious flavour, and produced over a long cropping period..

Sowing Instructions: Sow mid April indoors for transplanting or sow May to early July outdoors. Indoors sow seed, 5cm (2 inches) deep in 7.5cm (3 inch) pots or trays of good free draining, seed compost. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag and place at 18-20C (64-68F) until after germination which takes 7 to 10 days. Outdoors can be sown direct once the soil has warmed, sow 15cm (6 inches) apart, 5cm (2 inches) deep and in rows 45cm (18 inches) apart. Prefers to be grown in fertile, moist yet well drained soil which has had plenty of well rotted compost dug into it the previous autumn.

Growing Instructions: Gradually acclimatise indoor grown plants to outdoor conditions for a few days before planting out after all risk of frost, against canes or netting.

Aftercare Instructions: Hoe regularly and keep well watered. Mulch during dry periods. Pick beans regularly when young.

Thompson & Morgan - One of the Country's Greatest Seed Firms

Thompson & Morgan has become one of the country's greatest seed firms with a reputation for introducing more species and varieties to the British gardening public than any other seed company - a tradition that continues to this day. Imaginative marketing techniques have made Thompson & Morgan the industry's pace-setters and have helped keep the company dynamic and young at heart.

Quality - Cornerstone of Success!

The quality of the product is the cornerstone of the company's success, and quality control dominates every aspect of Thompson & Morgan's operations. All suppliers have to stipulate seed germination rates, regular checks are made by T&M's management of all contracted growers' crops and every consignment of seed is rigorously tested in the laboratory and trial grounds by the company's technicians. Finally, the seed is foil packed to retain pristine freshness before being inserted into the well-known and distinctive Thompson & Morgan packets. With every packet comes the company's guarantee as to its viability.
