Planters, pots and containers for gardens and patios
A well presented garden does not just mean looking after your lawn and borders, you must also make your patios and decking areas look attractive too. This can be done in many different ways but one that is very effective and not too expensive is the use of garden pots, planters and containers.
As you can see from our selection below, attractive planting solutions come in many different shapes, sizes and materials. Materials such as terracotta and hardwoods are practical and show off your planted arrangements superbly. Where as plastic containers may not look as good, these are great if you are working to a budget.
You can really get artistic if you want and purchase specifically coloured pots to contrast against your planted schemes. For example, red planting schemes look fantastic in containers coloured blue, green, yellow and orange, where as red coloured plants will contrast well with most coloured planters but look especially stunning in black containers. Another tip, keep to planting that has both simple shapes and do not OVER plant - this will help your displays last longer as well as make them look stunning.
Keep tender plants in areas that are not subject to the strong weather elements such as wind and heavy rain. In the winter months remember to protect thin terracotta pots by putting them indoors as they are very much susceptible to frost damage. This is because the water in the compost expands when frozen and so cracks the pot. With a little care and attention fragile containers can last for many years.
