The Royal Horticultural Society's Chelsea Flower Show has been an annual social bookmark of the great and the good since 1913, interrupted only by two world wars. Each spring the finest gardeners on earth gather to capture fame and prestige by walking off with coveted prizes. Garden owners from around the world come to Chelsea Flower Show in pursuit of fashionable hybrids for their estates or backyards.
The show is held in the grounds of the Royal Hospital, home to the Chelsea Pensioners, next to the River Thames. The enormous light, airy and colourful Chelsea Pavilion covering two and a half acres is filled with exhibits vying with each other for one of the Royal Horticultural Society's Gold Medals. Outside there are model gardens and a colossal range of other products in every avenue and corner of the show.
Amazingly, the show gardens move from the drawing board to the show ground in just three weeks. Designers will draw their inspiration worldwide in their combination of themes for the next Show.
